Students from Bayport-Blue Point High School’s wellness club visited Blue Point Elementary third graders to encourage kindness as part of the district’s Great Kindness Challenge.
The high schoolers first led their elementary peers in a peaceful meditation. Afterwards, the younger students were asked to share what kind thoughts they had during the exercise. Next, the high school students brought out posterboard and together, both older and younger students created “kindness posters”, writing down anything that made them happy or feel good.
Leading up to their visit, all elementary students in the Bayport-Blue Point School District participated in The Great Kindness Challenge spirit week with several themed days. Students wore their favorite hat for “hats off to kindness” day, wore pajamas for “dream of kindness” day and wore neon colors and sunglasses for “shine bright with kindness” day.
