Safety in Our Schools

We are committed to the safety and security of our Bayport-Blue Point students, faculty, and staff.  We continue to utilize the services of security consultants who have conducted an extensive physical security audit of all district buildings to ensure compliance with the legal requirements of Project SAVE and Commissioner of Education Regulation 155.17.  This includes a review of the district Code of Conduct and required procedures, practices and activities. In addition, we also completed the FEMA Building Vulnerability Assessment Checklist, which contained an analysis of utility, mechanical, plumbing, gas, electrical and fire alarm systems.

The district’s Project SAVE committee, comprised of administrators, Board of Education, staff, parent community, and local fire department officials, meets several times a year to review the District Safety Plan.  This ongoing process is designed to ensure that we continually identify ways of improving the systems we have in place to safeguard our students.
