Academy Street Students

On Sept. 29, Academy Street Elementary School hosted their first monthly town hall assembly of the year. The town hall meetings allow students to come together as a school community, celebrate one another and learn more about each other.

At the beginning of the assembly, Principal Lorie Beard presented several students with the Student of the Month award, celebrating their academic and personal achievements during the month of September.

This celebration of students was followed by a special performance by Jester Jim filled with juggling, beatboxing and comedy. Aside from being highly entertained, students took away an important message as Jester Jim incorporated conversation about belonging, one of the Bayport-Blue Point School District’s core values, throughout the performance.

While the assemblies will vary in content throughout the year, they will continue to promote a sense of community and will focus on the district’s values of belonging, believing in others and believing anything is possible.
