RoboPhantoms collect over $1,000 in holiday gift donations

The James Wilson Young Middle School RoboPhantoms FIRST (For Inspiration
and Recognition in Science and Technology) Robotics Teams 9556 and
56530 recently collected donations for a Bronx classroom of 4- to
6-year-old students.

The two teams “adopted” the class of students, raising more than $1,000 in donations that were used to purchase gifts on a wish list that the students gave to their teacher. “This is one of the components of what FIRST is all about, which is coming up with a positive impact on the community,” said RoboPhantoms adviser Joe DeSantis.

The RoboPhantoms held in-person events at Android’s Amazing Comics in Sayville on Nov. 25 and at Milo’s Toys and Collectibles in Oakdale on Dec. 3. The teams will be dropping off the gifts at Time Out Sports Café in Hicksville, who helped to facilitate the fundraising event.
