Dear BPE Families,
Welcome back! Rainer Maria Rilke said, “And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have been.”  I hope this letter finds you happy and healthy after these summer months. Hopefully you were able to spend time with family and friends, creating wonderful memories for our students. I am extremely excited to start the year with all of you and am even more excited for all of the things we have planned for the 2018-2019 school year.  There is a lot of information that gets sent home to prepare for the beginning of the year.  Please look through everything carefully and contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Our first day of school is scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, 2018. We are keeping the tradition of meeting behind the school to meet the teachers and new friends before we begin the special day.  In case of inclement weather, teachers will meet the students indoors (Grades K-2 in the gymnasium and Grades 3-5 in the cafeteria). Kindergarten parents, please remember that there are no half-days to start the year. All days will be full days and we ask that you send in all school supplies on the first day.
Communication is very important in making a positive home-school connection.  There are many ways the school communicates throughout the year. Teachers send home newsletters,    letters, and/or emails on a consistent basis and are always willing to meet to discuss any concerns.  As a building, there are many ways to stay informed:

  • Monthly Calendar: In the beginning of the month, a calendar of events going on in the building is sent home.  Keep this in a place where it’s visible as it is a great resource.
  • School Website: This is updated frequently and is also another great place to look for important information.
  • Weekly Email: Every Sunday around 1pm, you will receive an email from me with how the previous week went as well as what’s coming up in the future.
  • Twitter: @BPESchool This is the best way to see what’s going on in the building on a daily basis. There you will see pictures of students working and having fun in school.  There will also be reminders and updates to keep you informed in a quick way.

Boys and Girls, I can’t wait to see you!  Your teachers have worked hard to make the classroom ready for you and have been busy preparing fun lessons for you! If you’re nervous, that’s ok!  I am too!  But I’m also excited!  It’s going to be a great year together and you’re so lucky to have such supportive and kind teachers to work with you.  They’re there to listen, help, and care for you.  And so am I. Enjoy the rest of your summer and see you soon!
