Dear BPE Families,

Welcome back! Malcolm X said, “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”  That is definitely the goal of all of us at Blue Point Elementary School.  We hope to instill a love of learning and many experiences that will encourage them to follow their dreams and be anything they want to be.

I hope this letter finds you happy and healthy after these summer months. Hopefully you were able to spend time with family and friends, creating wonderful memories for our students. Last year was full of amazing things and I’m excited to see what 2019-2020 brings our way.  There is a lot of information that gets sent home to prepare for the beginning of the year.  Please look through everything carefully and contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Our first day of school is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2019. We are keeping the tradition of meeting behind the school to meet the teachers and new friends before we begin the special day.  In case of inclement weather, teachers will meet the students indoors (Grades K-2 in the gymnasium and Grades 3-5 in the cafeteria).

Communication is very important in making a positive home-school connection.  There are many ways the school communicates throughout the year. Teachers send home newsletters, letters, and/or emails on a consistent basis and are always willing to meet to discuss any concerns.  As a building, there are many ways to stay informed:

• Monthly Calendar: In the beginning of the month, a calendar of events going on    in the building is sent home.  Keep this in a place where it’s visible as it is a great resource.
• School Website: This is updated frequently and is also another great place to look for important information.
• Weekly Email: Every Sunday around 1pm, you will receive an email from me with how the previous week went as well as what’s coming up in the future.
• Twitter: @BPESchool This is the best way to see what’s going on in the building on a daily basis. There you will see pictures of students working and having fun in school.  There will also be reminders and updates to keep you informed in a quick way.

Boys and Girls, I hope you are ready to hop on the Energy Bus for your most amazing year yet!  Remember, you are the driver of your bus and the type of year you have is 100% up to you.  So before you join me back at BPE, think about what kind of year you want to have.  We are all so excited to see you again in September!  The school is ready for you, the classrooms are ready for you and most importantly the faculty and I are ready for you! If you’re anything like me, you may feel a little nervous but we are all here for you.  Find your “Go-To” person and say hello.  We’re here to listen, help, and care for you.  Enjoy the rest of your summer and see you soon!

Sincerely,
